Kofi Annan, the ex Secretary-General of the United Nations and Nobel Prize winner is to hold a speech on The Global Compact: Challenging Business to Become Leading Actors in Sustainable Development.
The event is to take place at the Palacio de Congresos in Marbella on April the 13th from 5:30pm.
In this speech, Kofi Annan will reiterate the responsibility of businesses and individuals to address environmental challenges; undertake initiatives to promote greater environmental responsibility; protect human rights; and encourage the development and transfer of environmentally-sustainable technologies.
Kofi Annan:
Born in Ghana in 1938, Kofi Annan was the seventh Secretary-General of the United Nations, serving from 1997 to 2006. He was awarded the Nobel Prize for peace jointly with the United Nations in 2001.
As a constant advocate for human rights, the rule of law, the Millennium Development Goals and Africa, one of Kofi Annan´s main priorities as Secretary-General was a comprehensive programme of reform aimed at revitalizing the United Nations and making the international system more effective.
